What is Spirituality? what can be measured or counted. It is made up of the inner life, the realm of belief, mystery, and faith. And yet for all the mystery that surrounds it, spirituality is vital to our well-being. It is the foundation of our most closely held values, the seat of our trust and hope. Spirituality brings purpose and meaning to life, and as we develop it we grow in wisdom and love. We begin to experience a sense of awe, a sense of connection to all of life, and a deep reverence for the Divine. We find ourselves moved to prayers of gratitude and moments of spontaneous worship. Spirituality calls a human being to a life of trust and service.....
Drop The Ego For Enlightnment (New) Life is filled with truth, auspiciousness and beauty (satyam, shivam and sundaram) but our self is filled with a false ego. As long as the ego lives, we may not experience true beauty but our mind will be filled with dreams of expectations that define beauty in a subjective way. Ego is nothing but a self image of who we truly are. This self image projects a reality defined by the expectations of the ego. When these expectations are not fulfilled, it creates its own resentments and regrets. These create a life of deficiency called 'samsara' and life becomes a movement from incompleteness to incompleteness.
What Is Sannyasa? Sannyasa is a parampara. Parampara means 'tradition'. It is a tradition of people who leave society to follow spiritual pursuits, who have no ties with society in any way. This was how the concept of sannyasa developed traditionally. It went to the extent where sannyasins were required to perform their last rites before entering the path of sannyasa. Performing the last rites meant that one died symbolically; one had no karmic or dharmic relationship with parents, kith and kin, relatives, friends or society at large....

It's a dream-like world that seems illusory At the end of the Mahabharata war Arjuna came to meet his grandfather Bhishma who was lying on a bed of arrows that Arjuna had shot. Bhishma was waiting for an auspicious day to leave his mortal coils. Arjuna asked: "Pitamah, where do you expect me to bury your body after you leave this earthly abode?" Bhishma smilingly said, "Bury my body in a place where i was not buried before". Accordingly, Arjuna selected a place on the banks of the Yamuna river and performed suitable rituals......

Science & Spirituality While science gets us physical comforts, spirituality brings us mental calm, says His Holiness, The Dalai Lama I believe there is a genuine relation between modern science and internal spirituality. Our bodies are the platform for all pleasure and pain at the sensory level. At the same time, we have a sophisticated mind, which keeps track of things at the psychological level. Between these two, the experience of pain and pleasure on the mental level is superior. One could be physically ill but still be mentally happy and content. In fact, physical pain can be subdued by mental calm.
Spiritual Inspirations Vivekananda The cosmos is neither moral or immoral; only people are. He who would move the world must first move himself."Seek ye first the kingdom of God, and everything shall be added unto you." This is the one great duty, this is renunciation. Live for an ideal, and leave no place in the mind for anything else. Let us put forth all our energies to acquire that which never fails--our spiritual perfection. If we have true yearning for realization, we must struggle, and through struggle growth will come. We shall make mistakes, but they may be angels unawares.
Amrit Sadhna Existence is made of light and since human beings are part and parcel of existence they constitute the same element. Mind and Pure Consciousness In psychology consciousness is part of mind and in yoga mind is part of consciousness. How is it so?According to psychology there are three levels of mind: the conscious, subconscious and unconscious. Yogic concepts have said that first there is consciousness, which is the essence, the source of all ideas, thoughts, actions and reactions, including the desires: ichha shakti, jnana shakti and kriya shakti.Jnana shakti is the component of knowing, it is the concept of omniscience. Within it is contained knowledge, wisdom and experience. This knowledge is not bound by time, but is infinite. It has knowledge of the essence of the past, present and future. So jnana shakti is the attribute of consciousness which is omniscience.
